District Sports 2017

Twenty six Abbey School children from Year 3-6 were chosen to compete against children from sixteen St Albans small schools over a two day event.

Highlights in the field events included:

Year 6 Freddie Roe and Fraser Hauser jumped very impressively and Freddie came in joint 5th place.

Year 6 Amandine Geurts came 5th in the high jump event last year and this year came in 3rd position, jumping over 1.20m.

Year 6 AlistairLechartier-Rutter came 2nd in the long jump boys event, jumping over 4m.

Year 6 Sai Fisher came 2nd in the throw event, throwing over 33m and Year 5 Finn Ball also came in 2nd in the boys event throwing over 40m.

Highlights in the track events included:

The Year 3 and 4 girl’s shuttle relay team came first in their heats and the boy’s team came second in their heats. The girl’s team came third overall in the finals.

Year 4 80m sprints – Alice Strike came first and Micah came second in their heat.  Alice came in second position overall in the finals.

600m – Year 6 Ruby came in third position and Year 6 Freddie Roe came fifth out of 16 runners, running a lap and a half of Westminster Lodge athletics tack.

Year 6 100m sprint –  Alistair Lechartier-Rutter came third overall in the finals.
