District Sports June 2016

District Sports Update

Well done to the 15 Year 5 and 6 children who competed in the District Sports field events today against 15 St Albans small schools. 24 Year 3-6 children will compete over the two day event. The next event day is this Thursday from 1-3pm where the sprints will take place, the Year 6 600m, the Year 3/4 relay and the finals of the Year 5/6 4 x 100m relay following todays heats.

Our Year 5 and 6 boys won their relay heat today for the 4 x 100m and are through to Thursday’s finals. Well done to Lucas Manning, Max Manning, Ollie Colman and Charlie Robinson. The Year 5/6 girls ran really well and came 3rd out of the 6 teams in their heat, narrowly missing going through to Thursday’s finals.

In the field events, Oliver Chow and Fraser Hauser jumped very impressively and jointly came in 2nd place with each of the 16 schools entering up to two sportsmen or women. Max Manning came 2nd in the long jump event, Hannah Read came in 4th position in the throw event and Amandine Geurts came 5th in the high jump event.

A very impressive first day  I think you would agree! Well done to all the children who participated today and good luck for those who are competing on Thursday!
